Hi, I’m Rhea Reyes a senior high student here in Batangas. We all know each of us experiencing different disasters. I grew up in the province of Batangas and I know there are many places here in my province that tourist usually visit and one of them is the Taal Volcano which can be found in Talisay and San Nicolas Batangas. The volcano is the second most active volcano in the Philippines. January 12, 2020 was a phreatomagmatic eruption from its main crater that spewed ashes across Calabarzon, Metro Manila, and some parts of Central Luzon and resulting in the suspension of school classes, work schedules and flights in the area.

Today I want to share my experience that I will never forget about the disaster or calamity. On the 12th of January 2020, at exactly 3 o’clock in the afternoon I decided to do my laundry, when o felt dizzy but, I just ignored it and continued washing clothes. Suddenly I heard some kids already screaming while saying that the Taal Volcano was starting to erupt. At night, the earthquakes continued due to what was happening in Taal Volcano. That night we could see more clearly what was happening in the volcano because you could see something like lightning, that was amazing but were also scared. My family and I watched television so that we could better understand what was happening in the area. As we watched, we were saddened by the condition of our countrymen, seeing in their eyes the the sadness and fear of what was happening. Before we went to bed we still felt earthquakes we closed our eyes we knew the condition of our relatives and we prayed for the safety of our family and also for the people who experiencing this disaster.

I also experience landslide while we were on vacation in Laguna. the landslide occured at 7 a.m. We heard a loud rumbling sound coming from the direction of the slopes. Although we rushed to the balcony of my auntie’s apartment on the second floor, we could not see anything. The whole area was enveloped in bleak darkness. I knew that the heavy rain during the past week must have taken its toll on the hill slopes. We rushed to the balcony where Dad was standing. The sun was already up and in the dazzling brightness, we could see boulders the size of builders resting foot of the slopes. A neighbor informed us that a major landslide was occured. We rushed to the basement, we saw that rescue workers were already there and removing buried vehicles from the rubble. The landslide also cut off the only road to town.

I also experience seeing structure Fire/Explosion,when we went to the market to buy what we needed, we went through CITIMART and we saw that there was smoke inside and we just noticed that there was a fire growing, and a few hours later the firefighters arrived to put out the fire.
